On April 10th, 2019, Jesus called home Betty Clarice Sligar of Butler, Tennessee, after 95 years of service to the Lord. She was preceded in death by many family members and friends, namely her loving husband, Clarence William Sligar (Dub) of Butler, her sweet sister Molly Joanne Griffin, and her son, Thomas Edwin Sligar.

She is survived by her beloved family, two children: Lance William Sligar and wife Mary Janet Sligar , and   Clarissa Lee Sligar Schmal and husband Stephen Schmal, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Betty retired from her calling in pediatric nursing beginning at Variety Children’s Hospital (now Nicklaus Children’s Hospital) and ending at the Johnson County Community Hospital / Ballad Health in Mountain City, TN. In her retirement she was a devoted  member and  Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Mountain City and she initiated Betty’s Food Pantry which continues to serve the community and where donations may be made in her honor.

It was Betty’s wish to be cremated and services will be held at a later time.

The family would like to say a special thanks to her Medi-Home Health and Hospice angels for their amazing grace.
