Barbara ‘Dorothy’ Baton Sedgwick, age 66, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her residence. She had been battling cancer and other health complications. Barbara lived a life full of love and laughter and leaves many memories here on earth and took many memories with her to heaven. Barbara was born on May 5, 1945, the daughter of the late Joseph Donald Baton and Ella Mae Baton. She leaves behind four children, Regina Roark and husband Dennis of Mountain City, TN; Tonnie Minks and fiancé Claude Snyder of Trade, TN, Cary Johnson of Mountain City, TN and Joseph Sedgwick of Memphis, TN; brothers and sisters, John Thomas and wife Shirley, Tommy Baton, all of NC, Edward Baton of TX, Mollie Czar and husband Ron of CA, Wilmetta Johnson and husband Lane of NC and Mona Lisa Payne of Mountain City, TN; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; one special great-granddaughter, Emilynn Paige Sedgwick and special friends, Susie Deiters, Peggy Ann Vance and Randy Blevins.
The family received friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service following at 7:00 p.m. with Spencer Roark officiating.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at Phillippi Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Warren, Jackie Harless, Claude Snyder, Wayne Vance and Dustin Brady. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Roark and Randy Blevins.
