Alice Bowley Ward, age 60, of Beaver Creek School Road, West Jefferson, and formerly of Watauga County, NC and Johnson County TN, died Thursday morning, July 28, 2011, at the Johnson County Community Hospital in Mountain City, TN. Born Alice Lodemia Bowley, December 4, 1950 in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of George Edward and Maude Trivette Bowley. Alice was a devoted and loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid NASCAR fan.
Ms. Ward is survived by her companion and partner, Thomas E. Moore; daughter, Pamela Ann Ward, and fiancé, Perry L. Stout, Esquire, of Mountain City; son, Edward Blaine Ward, and wife, Tammy, of Banner Elk; two grandsons, Daniel Blaine Ward of Banner Elk and William Arthur Greene of Boone; two granddaughters, Isabella Renee Ward, of Banner Elk, and Allison Faye Greene of Mountain City; one great-great granddaughter, Zoe Danielle Eldreth-Greene of Shady Valley, TN; three sisters, Eunice Johnson and husband, Willis, of Sugar Grove, Cynthia Bowley of Boone and Donna Kaczmarczyk of Blacksburg, SC; and half-brother, Tommy Presnell of Wilkesboro; several nieces and nephews as well as many friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maude Trivette Bowley, daughter, Dinah Lynn Ward, and brother, Joseph Donald Bowley.
Funeral services for Alice Bowley Ward were conducted Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Quincy Norris and Rev. Harvey Presnell.
