‘Uncle’ Leon Anderson, age 100, of Butler, Tennessee, went to be with his brother, mother and father on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born on August 3, 1911 in Grafton, Ohio to the late Frank and Mary Filipiak Anderson. He had made his home in Tennessee for the last eight years. Leon loved electronics, computers and radios. He also was an avid reader.
Leon was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army Air Corp. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his nephew, Frank Anderson and his wife Rosemary of Butler, TN; niece, Diane Anderson of Wickliffe, Ohio; great nephews, Jim Anderson and wife Mary, John Anderson and Joel Anderson and wife Kathy; great niece, Jill Cooper and husband Lee; great-great nieces and nephews, Tara, Katie, Lindsay, Alisha, J.J., Michael, Jessica and Jordan.
The family received friends from 4-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with a prayer service following at 6:00 p.m. with Father Dennis Kress officiating.
Graveside service with military honors were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Father Dennis Kress officiating and the Johnson County Honor Guard conducting military honors. The Johnson County Honor Guard also served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bernie Cowan Sr., Kerry Gentry, Larry Grove and Brian Sehrer.
