Two lives taken in car accidents in Johnson County

A two-car crash claimed the life of Timothy D. Campbell of Butler, Tennessee on July 10 as Campbell was driving eastbound on State Highway 67 in Johnson County. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Campbell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, crossed the centerline and hit another car head on. The driver of the second vehicle, Kyle Stanberry, was injured in the crash. Reports indicate Stanberry was wearing a seat belt. He remains in the hospital.
According to a press release by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, James Dallas Howell, IV, of Greenbrier, West Virginia was traveling on Tennessee State Route 133 towards Winchester Road in Shady Valley on July 10 at approximately 9:00 pm when he ran off the road into the grass. He attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the road but over corrected and the vehicle went into a skid. His car hit the bank and flipped one time. Howell died in the accident. He was not wearing a seat belt.
