Torrential rains cause flooding in Mountain City
Torrential rainfall lasting more than an hour on Sunday evening caused flooding in various parts of Mountain City. Most of the bridge construction on Hwy. 421S near the Pioneer Village Shopping Center was submerged when the creek overflowed its banks. Onlookers reported heavy equipment moving and lighter materials washing away as the flood water forced its way through the site.
Goose Creek turned Ralph Stout Park and neighboring properties into a river, causing damage to residential property as well as the trail project that is underway.
