Threat sparks increased security at JCHS campus

Students and staff were subjected to stepped-up security at the Johnson County High School campus on Thursday morning after the sheriff’s department received a tip that a threat had been made to an employee of Johnson County Schools.
“Security was increased only as a precautionary measure,” said Johnson County Director of Schools Morris Woodring. “In this day and age you take anything like that seriously.” According to Woodring no students were ever in any danger with regards to this incident.
Authorities subsequently arrested Ronnie Ervil Manuel, 60, on Thursday morning at another location for allegedly holding his wife against her will and domestic violence. Manuel, who is listed as the pastor of God’s Country Church in Mountain City, was released from the Johnson County Jail after posting a $12,500 bond. A court date has been set for December 21, 2011 in Johnson County General Sessions Court.
