School Board says goodbye to Ann Parsons

By Lacy Hilliard
As Johnson County Schools wrapped up the first week of the 2012/2013 school year, the school board held its monthly meeting on August 9. The common theme for this month’s agenda was change and new beginnings.
This was the last official school board meeting for Vice Chairperson Ann Parsons who will be replaced by Brad Dunn as per the recent election results. Prior to the meeting, a farewell reception was held for Parsons in recognition of her four years of service to the board. Every member of the board expressed their well wishes to Parsons and thanked her for her service including board Chairperson Gerald Buckles who said, “Ann has done a tremendous job as a school board member and she will be missed.” In departure, Parsons offered the following statement, “It’s been an honor to serve the Johnson County Board of Education for the past four years. Now I am entrusting my children’s education along with the education of the children of Johnson County with the board. I want to thank everyone that voted for me.”
