Mountain City Mayor Kevin Parsons filed a lawsuit against the county and several individuals concerning his arrest on January 8, 2019. Parsons was charged with Obstruction of Justice traffic after refusing to identify his brother-in-law during a traffic stop on December 22, 2018. The charges were dropped in May at his preliminary hearing.
In a previous statement, Parsons expressed his desire to move on from the situation but must have had a change of heart as he filed a $750,000 lawsuit for “nominal/compensatory damages on several claims including false arrest, malicious prosecution, and unreasonable search and seizure and punitive damage.”
