Meeting for 'Support and Training for Exceptional Parents' (STEP) will be held May 28th

Support and Training for Exceptional Parents (STEP) will host an evening of training for parents and family members who have children and youth with disabilities birth through age 26 who are receiving special receiving special education service. The training is also applicable for those who may need special education and family members with teens to young adults in their families with disabilities who are about to embark on life outside of high school.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at First Christian Church, 401 West Main Street in Mountain City. A dinner will follow registration, which begins at 4:30 pm. The educational sessions begin at 5:30 pm. These sessions are based in your child’s age and your concerns, gives you an opportunity to meet other families and talk with the speakers.
Participants can choose the session or session based on the age of their child and the topics they are interested in. For children birth to 12 years old, topics include understanding your child’s special education rights; the six principles of IDEA, tips for preparing to participate effectively at Individual Education Program Team Meetings, or IEPS, as well as effective communication and how to successfully express what you want for your child.
