Mabe sentenced to 20 years

Richard Shane Mabe appeared in federal court on September 8, 2014 in Greeneville, Tennessee in connection with charges stemming from a carjacking in Johnson County on Divide Road that occurred in June of 2013. Mabe, a resident of Mountain City, pled guilty and was sentenced to 240 months, or 20 years, in prison. Once he is released, he will serve five years of supervision under the United States Probation Office. He will be 55 once he completes his sentence.
The chase began when Mabe, who was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier in the week leaving two individuals from Mountain City treated for gunshot wounds, was spotted in Mountain City. He was traveling with Timothy Greer of Creston, North Carolina and they were seen leaving the McDonald’s on 421. Before the pair could be caught, it was reported they sped off, shooting at officers as they fled.
