Johnson County Little League is planning a special opening day celebration Saturday at Cunningham Park to kick off the 2010 baseball/softball season. A parade of teams will begin at 9 a.m. According to Howard Carlton, league president, all participating teams are asked to meet in the parking lot of the First Christian Church. The parade will begin at that location and continue down Main Street and eventually conclude at Cunningham Park on College Street.
The morning festivities will begin after all teams are assembled with an opening ceremony complete with introductions of all teams and respective coaches and sponsors.
Teams will play an inning each, said Carlton, with Tee ball, girls minor and major leagues playing at Ralph Stout Park and boys minor and major league teams playing at Cunningham Park.
Tomahawk sports editor, Matt Hill, will be photographing each team for a special upcoming Little League supplement.
Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out and support Johnson County Little League.
