Johnson County Bank sponsors Positive Thinkers’ luau event

By Paula Walter
The Positive Thinkers, a philanthropic group who organizes several events each year to benefit the people of Johnson County, were recently presented with a $1,000 check by Johnson County Bank president, Bill Brookshire, and Chris Reece, CEO of the bank. For many years, the organization has held a luau each summer to raise funds for their scholarship fund. The number of scholarships awarded is dependent on monies available.
This year, the previous sponsor for the annual event was unable to help. It wasn’t until mid July that the group found out of the change of plans and had to quickly begin looking at other alternative fundraisers to raise the monies that goes directly to Johnson County High School seniors. Bill Brookshire, Chris Reece and Brad Reece, who sit on the board of directors for the bank, came forward to lend a helping hand and donated $1,000, the amount the luau typically brings in each year. Although Johnson County Bank is active in many activities, this is the first time the bank has sponsored this event. The monies presented to the group will go directly to the scholarship fund in lieu of the yearly luau. “The Positive Thinkers really appreciate what Johnson County Bank has done,” said Belinda Reece, current president of the organization.
