Huge hay fire

When a wagon load of hay caught fire on Forge Creek Road Friday night, the driver was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and unhook his truck and remove it from harm’s way. For a time there was concern that the blaze might damage light wires overhead, but there was little to do but watch until the fire department arrived. It took only a few minutes for fire fighters to diminish the inferno to a heap of smoldering rubble in a cloud of smoke and steam. No damage was sustained to the surrounding buildings and houses, but the wagon and its load of hay were a complete loss.
