Howard and her husband Malcolm are part of a very small group of local bowlers who participate in national tournaments across the U.S.
A few times a year, the Howards take long drives to these big tournaments, traveling hundreds of miles to places like Chicago, Illinois and Syracuse, New York.
Howard and her husband go to these far-off cities to compete but they also like to visit the local tourist attractions of each city.

After some more sightseeing around the city, Howard entered the tournament, joining over four hundred fifty other senior athletes who also participated.
The Johnson County native played nine games at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley. After everyone finished their games, all scores were tallied and Howard ended up placing first over all other entrants.
I didnt expect it. She said. I never expect to win but [Malcolm] pushed me on. He said you can win this thing.
