Give a warm and fuzzy feeling this Christmas

The Mountain City Police Department is once again preparing for a season of giving. With Christmas knocking at our doors, Police Officer Joey Norris and his team of helpers are gearing up for the second annual Toy Express.
Last year, Norris and a host of volunteers were able to make the lives of approximately 600 of Johnson County’s children happier as they gave out nearly 4,000 gifts. Donations of over $3,000 were received last year in this first time endeavor. “All the money was spent right here,” Norris said. “Not a dime went outside the county.” He frequented The Dollar General stores, Fred’s and Tri-State Growers to purchase the toys for the children.
The Toy Express was able to give gifts to children from birth to 12 years of age. The event was initially opened to children the school system helped to identify. Due to the generous spirit of giving in the community, there were enough gifts to open the Toy Express to all children.
Monetary donations are being accepted at City Hall at 210 S. Church from October 15, 2012 through November 16, 2012. This year’s Toy Express will be held on December 8, 2012.
