Fourth of July activities

Johnson County’s July Fourth celebration will be this Sat., the third.

There will be a Little Miss Independence Day pageant with sign-ups at 10:00 a.m. and the pageant at 10:30.

The line up for the parade will be at 4:00 at Mountain City Elementary. Parade leaves the school at 5 p.m. and proceeds down Donnelly Street to South Church Street making a left hand turn on to Main Street, down Main Street to 421, turning right and proceeding to Ralph Stout Park. Todd Grayson, former Mtn. City Mayor, will serve as Grand Marshall.

The Flag of 1776 will be raised at the park at 5:45 p.m.

There will be a candidate forum from 6 till 7 p.m. The “Juke Box Boys” take the stage playing everything from beach music, George Jones and Rock and Roll. During the evening more candidates will take the stage during breaks of the band. The band will take requests throughout the evening.

Fireworks will begin at dark.
For everyone’s convenience concession stands will be open serving hamburgers, hot dogs, snow cones, pizza, cotton candy, etc.
