County schools set to open August 7th

Last Tuesday, the Johnson County Board of Education held their last regular meeting before the new school year starts next month. The first day for students for the 2012-13 is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7.
As there were no visitors or delegations to recognize, board members got down to business at hand. The June meeting minutes were read and approved without any additions or corrections.
There were several routine items on the consent agenda for the month. All were approved unanimously as they were presented.
Bringing in the lowest amount of the three HVAC companies that offered bids, Mountain Air, Inc. was awarded the contract for Johnson County Schools for the coming school year beginning August 15, 2012. Cost of this year’s scheduled service program is $124,952.00 to be paid in 12 monthly installments of $10,412.66.
Director of Schools Morris Woodring informed the board of upcoming dates of importance including countywide in-service in August 3rd at Roan Creek Elementary School; fall district meeting on Sept. 17th at Church Hill Intermediate School; and the 2012 Tennessee School Board Association annual convention November 4th-6th.
