Chamber kicks of ‘Shop Local and Win’ Campaign

What could be better for local economic growth than to Christmas shop in Johnson County this year? The Johnson County Chamber of Commerce is initiating a special campaign this year encouraging folks to shop local.
“Shop Local and Win is your chance to positively impact our local economy by choosing locally owned businesses for holiday purchases,” explains Terry Warden, one of the coordinators of the idea. “Support our local merchants this holiday season by shopping at five of the participating locations, have the merchant sign beneath their business names and your name goes into a drawing for a $300 cash prize.”
According to Warden, game playing pieces can be picked up at participating stores. The grand prize drawing will be held on Monday, December 19th at WMCT, the local AM radio station.
“We also want to encourage local merchants to join the chamber during this campaign,” said Warden. “The Chamber of Commerce is not only a local organization but is also a national organization.” Becoming a member entitles the business advertise and referrals. “The Chamber will be glad to help with any grand opening, business announcements, or ribbon cutting,” said Warden.
Memberships help support a plethora of events throughout the year including the Christmas parade, Legislative breakfast, Leadership Johnson County, Mountain Heritage Rodeo and Johnson County Fair and Fourth of July in the park.
