Bill Gambill, longtime school board member and community leader, passed away last week

Albert Will Gambill, better known to the community as Bill, passed away Tuesday, May 17, at his residence after a lengthy illness that he battled courageously.
Bill had served on the Johnson County School Board for 22 years. He was still a member of the board at his passing and attended meetings in spite of illness whenever it was possible. He was a deacon of First Christian Church and also taught Sunday School. He was a former employee of Mountain City Police Department and Johnson County Sherriff’s Department. He was also the first president of the Johnson County Jaycee’s.
Bill was a true Tennessee Volunteer and Longhorn football fan that attended games faithfully season after season as long as his health would allow.
