Richard Shane Mabe and two other unidentified suspects have been apprehended by law enforcement officials after allegedly stealing a car at Silver Lake Market off of Highway 91 in Mountain City. Mabe is currently wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this week that left 40-year-old Jackie Harless of Mountain City and 40-year-old Michael Laird also of Mountain City, at Johnson City Medical Center being treated for gunshot wounds. After further investigation, Mabe was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Most Wanted list on the following charges; two counts of attempted second degree murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, one count of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of probation.
Kevin Keene informed The Tomahawk that the suspects pulled into the Silver Lake Market parking lot, threatened him with a gun and stole his late model Honda Civic. The alleged theft resulted in a police chase and ended with the stolen vehicle in a ditch across from Potters Lumber on Highway 91 and the suspects in custody. The Tomahawk will post updates on this incident as they occur.
