ELIZABETHTON — The 50th Annual Covered Bridge Celebration begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday in the heart of downtown, with the focus on the city’s historic Covered Bridge.
To celebrate the golden anniversary, the headliner for the festival is a man with plenty of gold records and a Grammy Award, Marty Raybon. He also has awards from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music and International Bluegrass Music Association. He co-founded Shenandoah in 1984.
Raybon is appearing because of a friendship he has developed with elite banjoist Daniel Grindstaff of Elizabethton. Grindstaff toured and worked in the recording studio with Raybon from 2006-12. After that, Grindstaff decided to settle down in his hometown and became an agent with Farm Bureau Insurance.
