Grammie & Poppy’s Daycare hosts Ribbon-Cutting

Johnson County Chamber of Commerce Directors, friends, and dignitaries gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Open House for Grammie & Poppy’s Daycare on Friday, October 28.

Owners Allen and Lorie Buchanan purchased the former Promises Daycare this past July and have been hard at work repainting the building and upgrading the facility with new floors, an upgraded kitchen, new six-foot vinyl playground fencing, new playground equipment, and the addition of playground mulch that Shoun Lumber donated.

“We are so appreciative of everyone and thank all the people that have been there for us and helped us in so many ways, especially our staff and our parents that have been so supportive,” Lori said. After purchasing the daycare, the Buchanans had to close it for three weeks to complete the necessary upgrades, which they stated “was difficult for parents and staff.”

Once the upgrades were completed and the daycare opened back up, children returned to a remodeled daycare, and parents were thrilled with the outcome. Lori and Allen Buchanan wanted to show their appreciation to the community, the parents, and their staff by having an open house after the ribbon-cutting ceremony, providing wonderful finger foods, and dressing the adorable children up as Minions. The idea to dress the children as Minions came from Shannon, Haleigh, Kacie, Itsel, Haley, Priscilla, and Shandi, who make up the devoted staff at Grammie & Poppy’s Daycare. Thanks to Mountain City Dental, who sponsored the daycare for the local costume contest, these precious Minions have a chance to win. Mountain City Dental also provided all the daycare children with new toothbrushes and toothpaste to help them develop good dental hygiene habits early.

With new projects at Grammie & Poppy’s Daycare, like adding a laundry room, a breakroom/library, and a new pre-kindergarten curriculum, the children and their families have much to look for forward to. Allen and Lori Buchanan will continue to reach out to the community as they are dedicated to offering quality daycare to the children of Johnson County.
