Unted Way works to meet their goal

Dear Editor:

As the New Year begins many of us make resolutions and set forth goals aiming to achieve more and become a better person.  When you are contemplating your goals please keep in mind that we also need to set goals for our community.

Many volunteers in Johnson County work hard in order to make our community a safer and more desirable place to live.  Agencies such as the Red Cross, Safe Haven, Cancer Support, 4-H, Community Center, Emergency Heating Assistance, Senior Center, Legal Aid and the Volunteer Fire Departments are available to all of us should we ever need these services

The United Way Board is working very hard to finalize the 2012-2013 campaign that will help fund these agencies. Every year the people of Johnson County have contributed to our campaign and made this goal a reality.

This year as our campaign is quickly coming to a close we find that we are $13,000. short of the funds needed to meet the request that were brought before us this summer. Many of our neighboring United Way agencies have found themselves dealing with this same issue. By continuing in our efforts, and with your help, we are very hopeful that we will be able to completely fund these much needed agencies.

Sincerely,
Ruth Ann Osborne
