Shady Valley VFD thankful to United Way

The Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to thank United Way of Johnson County/Mountain City, the Board Members and all those who contribute to it.
The funding that United Way provides to SWFD makes it possible for our members to continue providing Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services to all of the 8th district and mutual aid to other communities within Johnson County and surrounding counties.
With the help of United Way, our department continues to be ready for any type of emergency or disaster that might occur, such as the tornados that hit parts of Johnson County and Washington County, Virginia in the spring of 2011 and the liquid nitrogen tanker spill at Trade.
United Way is a critical benefactor to our local communities, and without its important funding to volunteer fire departments and other organizations, our citizens would not be as safe and secure.
