SADD Club bonfire was a successful event

Dear Editor:

The Johnson County SADD Chapter (Students Against Destructive Decisions) hosted a Back-to-School Bon Fire for all the High School students on August 16th. SADD provides youth lead drug-free alternative activities for Johnson County youth. The SADD Club is dedicated to the Prevention of destructive decisions such as underage drinking, drug use, risky and impaired driving, teen violence, and teen suicide. SADD is an inclusive, not an exclusive organization. SADD believes that young people can have fun, enjoy life, and have positive relationships without the distraction of alcohol or other drugs. Admission was free for all the students that attended the Bon Fire. There were approximately 134 students participating in this event. The Club provided food, and games such as; Tug-o-war, frozen t-shirt contest, corn hole, flashlight tag, watermelon eating contest, and limbo. We had roasting of S’mores. We also had a live DJ for entertainment. We the SADD Club would like to thank everyone who came out and supported us. We would like to thank the Sheriff’s Department, Doe Valley Fire Department, and Johnson County Rescue Squad for being present for safety. Thank you to all the volunteers that chaperoned.

Sincerely,

SADD Club Leader
