Nave says sin was the cause of 9/11

Dear Editor:
“On that day about 3000 fell.” I could be talking about the terrorist attacks of 9-11 but I’m not. This is from Moses in Exodus 32 talking about the first judgment of God on His people for worshiping other gods over 3500 years ago. The Bible says God doesn’t change and says history repeats itself, so it appears America’s first judgment 12 years ago is about the same as what happened to Moses’ people. Many say seven years after 9-11 America again received God’s judgment when the stock market fell 777 in one day and the economy started going downhill. God doesn’t always bring judgment but allows judgment by removing His hand of protection. Everyone lowered their flags and patriotism was high after the 9-11 terrorist attacks. While patriotism is good only by lowering ourselves (humility) and prayer to and trust in Jesus can we as individuals and as a nation be saved!
The 17-foot cross found standing erect in the rubble of the World Trade Towers was a God provided reminder that sin brought down the World Trade Towers and sin put Jesus on the cross. Sin caused both the death in New York and on the cross. The cross brings us hope because we know God sent His Son to the cross to rescue sinners and gives us complete victory. Atheists tried to have the cross removed from the 9-11 museum. However, the good news is the Bible says in Romans 8 nothing can remove or separate us from Jesus and His love!
Just as our country was attacked without warning, so can our lives be ended quickly and unexpectedly. The lessons of the attacks show the need to have good intelligence information and be prepared militarily and most importantly, the need to be prepared spiritually for death. Experts say another attack isn’t a matter of if but when. It’s more important than ever to do what the Bible says and, “Prepare to met your God!”
Experts say every family should keep at least a month’s supply of water, canned or non-perishable food and non-electric can opener. Terrorists are studying how to shut down all electric power. Proverbs 30 praises ants as “extremely wise” for storing up nine months of food. The Bible says, prepare for the future. Leviticus 26 tells us what to expect in the future for countries like America that disobey God. God will allow sudden terror, diseases, food shortages, etc. If they continue to disobey, God will give them seven times more trouble. Matthew 24 tells us great wars, earthquakes and famines are coming in these last days before the return of Jesus.
Psalm 9:17 tells us “the wicked shall be turned into hell and all nations that forget God.” America is seeing a preview of this with record wildfires. Proverbs twice says, “A wise man forseeth evil and hides himself; but the simple pass on and are punished.” Christians pray for the best but prepare for the worst.
