Last weekend when my 96-year-old mother wandered away from our home in the Dry Hill community in Butler. We were blessed by the outpouring of support from the local community, volunteers from the surrounding area, and innumerable emergency response professionals in Johnson County. The tireless efforts of more than 100 people searching through the night and in the rain had a successful outcome when she was found after 24 hours huddled in an old barn, wet and confused but otherwise fine. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the assistance and encouragement we received, as well as the heartfelt prayers given for her safe return. We especially want to acknowledge Deputy Sheriff Adam Quinn whose compassion, communication, and coordination kept us sane throughout the harrowing 24 hours, but every single person involved deserves an appreciative call-out, and a heartfelt thank you!
