This week's church announcements

Young people? Are you looking for adventure? Challenge? Group activities? The Seventh-day Adventist Church at 1231 Cold Springs Road is beginning their second year of PATHFINDERS, a Christian scout-like organization. It meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30-8:00 p.m. This program is especially geared to ages 10-15. It helps young people develop community spirit, work together as a team, and grow in the grace and the knowledge of God. The registration is going on during the month of September, so come by and have a look. October’s program features Native American lore, with a real tipi and Indian crafts.
Last year’s program taught young ladies how to sew and decorate cakes. There was also fun learning about ferns, cats, and plaster crafts. Guys might enjoy the camping skills, which show you how to build shelters, start a fire in the woods, and learn how to use a compass. A summer class taught horsemanship and featured a four hour trail ride to the top of Raven Rock overlooking Neva. There is an upcoming campout at Carden’s Bluff near Butler, Tennessee.
State and area campouts are held annually. This is an international program and a world camporee in OshKosh, Wisconsin brought together about 50,000 kids from all over. A group from Mountain City made the trek and helped operate a pioneer village which featured Daniel Boone in costume, tomahawk throwing, Dutch oven cookery, the gee-haw-whimmy-diddle, cutting logs with a crosscut saw, even playing a saw musically!
So, young people, if you want to learn some interesting skills, crafts, and how to love God all in one, come join the Pathfinders. For more info, call Donna Mnich, at 423-725-2306 or just drop by any Wednesday in September.
