Is your child signed up for CBM’s Released Time Education Program?
Make sure your child joins over 900 Johnson County students as they participate in Children’s Bible Ministries’ Released Time Education Program (CBM Time). Since 1952, Preacher Hinkle taught Bible stories in our Johnson County schools, for over 35 years. Under the current interpretation of our Constitution, teaching the Bible on government property is prohibited. But in 1994, the Johnson County School Board approved the Released Time Education Program (RTEP).
Through the RTEP, Children’s Bible Ministries (CBM) provides inter-denominational Bible chapels for our children and youth during school hours, off campus, with parental permission. Johnson County is one of four counties in East Tennessee sponsoring Released Time Education with over 4,000 students enrolled.
CBM’s community ministry provides Bible chapels for all five elementary schools and the Middle School, grades 1-8. Last year, over 900 students participated in Johnson County. Chapels are held in churches of four different denominations with volunteers from twice that many denominations.
Why Released Time? God tells us in Deuteronomy 11 to teach the children when we sit in the house, walk along the road, when we lie down and rise up, all the time. In obedience to Him, we need to be teaching our children about Him.
What? Teaching Biblical values through Bible stories from the Old Testament: the Israelite’s exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land and the period of Judges.
Who? Over 900 Johnson County students, grades 1-8 When? A one hour Bible chapel (CBM Time) each month, October through April.
What will they do? Memorize Bible verses and hear an exciting Bible story. They will also have an opportunity to sign up for Mailbox Bible Lessons. The boys and girls learn that God can be a significant part of their lives.
If you would like to volunteer to help with Released Time, please call us. For more information, contact “Mr. Mike” Whitehouse at 727-1941 or by email at [email protected] “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9
