It has been a very rough season for the JCHS Lady Longhorns, but the effort continues to be there and it showed in the regular season finale on Monday night.
The Lady Longhorns were simply outmatched in a 62-38 Hampton Lady Bulldog win, but it was a much better than the 44-point defeat to Hampton back in December.
The Lady Longhorns trailed only 15-10 in the second quarter, but then the Lady Dogs cruised as head coach Leon Henley emptied his bench.

JCHS head coach Stacey Reece was pleased with the hustle.
“It was a lot better than the first time we played them,” she said. “It’s been the same story all year, we just make the same mistakes but I can’t fault them for their effort. They played really, really hard. They didn’t quit and I’m proud of that.
“All I’ve wanted all year is a good effort. We knew coming in it was going to be a rough season. All I’ve wanted is 32 minutes of effort.”
Monday night was the final game at Shoun Gym for seniors Lindsey Campbell, Amber Sexton, Mandy Hill and Gabby Billiot.

“I just appreciate this senior class,” Reece said. “We don’t have any drama on the team. They’re good leaders and I appreciate they’re attitude. It would have been easy for them to quit this year, but they stuck it out. Finishing something you started will stick with them their whole life.”
