ELIZABETHTON — After two evenings in which non-profit groups filled Covered Bridge Park with information booths, the 50th Annual Covered Bridge Celebration will kick it up several notches Friday.

The Covered Bridge Celebration is more than just music and shopping, as this little girl from last year’s Children’s Catfish Tournament will tell you. Registration for this year’s tournament begins at 8 a.m. at the Workforce Development Complex, 386 Stoney Creek Highway. Photo by Kim Eggers

The arts and craft vendors, the food vendors and Kids Island start at 10 a.m., with the vendors on East Elk Avenue and Riverside Drive and Kids Island once again on Edwards Island.

There is one major change in the location of the vendors: food vendors will be placed closest to the Covered Bridge Park stage, while arts and crafts vendors will be farther up Elk Avenue and around Riverside Drive.

Friday’s live music on the stage is sponsored by Dr. Enuf. It begins at 5 p.m. with the Thursday Night Boys. At 6 p.m. Jeff Sharpe and Friends takes the stage. Glen Meredith follows at 7:30 p.m. Brad Puckett will close out the Friday night concerts. His performance starts at 9 p.m.

In addition to the free performances in the Covered Bridge Park, free live music is also being offered on the other side of the Doe River at Jiggy Ray’s Downtown Pizzeria. Scott Steele will be performing, beginning at 6 p.m.

The celebration will be an all-day affair on Saturday, starting at 6:30 a.m. with registration for the Covered Bridge 5K Run and 3K Walk. The race, which goes through the Covered Bridge, gets started at 8 a.m. Also at 8 a.m., the Community Yard Sale and Antique Sale begins on East E Street.
