ANNA MARY STOLTZFUS HUYARD -
Anna Mary Stoltzfus Huyard, 76, of 541 New York Avenue, Harrisonburg, Virginia, quietly passed away Thursday morning March 8, 2012. She was born in Gap, Pennsylvania August 13, 1935. Anna Mary was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Hannah Stoltzfus and married David S. Huyard November 10, 1955 as Old Order Amish. Three years later they joined the Mennonite Church and in 1966 were assigned to pastor a congregation in northeastern Tennessee where they launched a local and international radio ministry. Anna Mary conducted the children’s radio program for twelve years and received regular personal letters of appreciation from children and adults. The Huyards moved to Virginia in 1985 and operated Huyard’s Country Kitchen from 1987-1999 in Dayton Farmers Market.
Her children will remember her as a loving, caring, encouraging, hardworking and resilient mother. Her grandchildren and great grandchild always received unending affection and unconditional love. She was a friend to all having no partiality in sharing love, encouragement, and countless meals. Showing no favoritism to anyone, she would have sat with the poorest paupers and the richest kings. Anna Mary found great joy in tending to her varieties of plants and flowers while feeding and observing the wild birds that visited her thriving and abundant gardens.
Anna Mary is survived by her husband, David, of Harrisonburg, Virginia. Also surviving are her five children who include Melvin and wife Ann of Butler, Tennessee; Dale of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Rose and husband Lou Farace of Mountville, Pennsylvania; Dwight and wife Susan Huyard of Staunton, Virginia and Crystal and husband John Gontkof of Springlake, New Jersey.
