School system requests additional $260,000; upsets proposed balanced county budget
Though the Johnson County Commissioners met on Thursday night, July 17, another work session is planned to finish budget discussions.

County Mayor Dick Grayson reported that thanks to the hard work of the county departments, the budget committee, and Ms. Horne, the budget committee was ready to present a balanced budget with the exception of the school system.

Mayor Grayson explained that the county’s goal was to meet the budget without the need to increase taxes. Grayson stated that most departments had made adjustments in preparation of increased fuel prices. Grayson also stated that due to the adjustments by county departments, each volunteer fire department was allotted an extra $2,600 this year. More...
