TDOC investigating death of NECC inmate

Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) authorities in charge of the investigation into the alleged murder of an inmate that occurred at Northeast Correctional Complex (NECC) have released the name of the victim. Timothy Tillery, Jr. was pronounced dead at a local hospital at approximately 10:03 a.m. on Saturday, July 19.

The circumstances surrounding Tillery’s death remained unclear at press time but in a press release issued by the TDOC stated that Tillery was involved in an “altercation” involving several inmates at NECC.

Tillery was 24-years-old and was serving a total of 24 years on several charges including aggravated robbery, attempted first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery.
