Campbell charged with selling drugs

According to Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece, on December 19, 2013, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office drug investigators, along with the Elizabethton Police Department undercover narcotics officers conducted a buy-bust in Mountain City in an effort to purchase prescription medication that totaled $400 from Laura Kathrine Campbell (Kathy Eller).

The transaction took place at a parking lot on State Highway 67 and the intersection of U.S. Highway 421, within 1000 feet of a school zone.

Authorities say once the transaction was complete between Campbell and an undercover officer, Campbell was arrested by officers from Johnson County Sheriff’s office, as well as the Elizabethton Police Department. She was charged with the sale of Schedule II controlled substance, drug-free school zone, simple possession of Schedule II and possession of legend drugs. Campbell was taken to the Johnson County Jail where bond was set at $83,000.

A General Session court date has been set for March 12, 2014 at 9:00 am for Campbell. She is free on bond.
