Minor injuries reported in school bus collison

A Johnson County school bus carrying students home from school was involved in a collision Monday afternoon, November 25, 2013, at approximately 3:38 pm at the intersection of Route 167 and Dotson Lane. The report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated that five students, ranging from eight to 16 years old, received minor injuries.

A 17-year-old driver was charged with failure to exercise due care as their 1996 Honda Accord was stopped on Dotson Lane at the intersection of Route 167. According to reports, the driver pulled out directly in front of the bus. The driver of the bus struck the Honda Accord in the driverís side door, knocking the vehicle off the road and onto a nearby yard before the bus was able to stop on the highway.

The driver of the Honda Accord sustained injuries and was taken to Johnson County Hospital. Reports indicate the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the school bus was wearing her seatbelt, was not injured and no charges were filed. The name of the driver of the Honda Accord has not been released.
