Story published: 02-27-2013 Print Article E-mail Story to a Friend Inmates set fire at jail According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Department press release issued on Monday, February 25, 2013, an incident in the county jail caused damage to a cellblock. According to Sheriff Mike Reece, inmates set fire to items in the cell. This led to a temporary evacuation and there were no injuries. The incident started last weekend and ended with a small fire being set Tuesday afternoon. The damage as a result of this action is in the thousands of dollars. According to Sheriff Reece, the fire was set with a lighter brought into the facility. An investigation is ongoing and possible charges are pending. |
