Rep. Hill appointed to House CommitteesRepresentative Timothy Hill (R-Blountville) was appointed to three House Committees on Thursday, including the powerful Health Committee. Hill will also be serving on the Business and Utilities Committee, and the only freshmen on the prestigious Calendar and Rules Committee.
“I am honored to have been appointed to these committees by House Speaker Beth Harwell,” said Rep. Hill. “I appreciate her confidence in me to serve, and I look forward to providing a unique business perspective on behalf of the people of Carter, Johnson, and Sullivan Counties while working in Nashville.”
Legislation referred to the Health Committee is relevant to three major topical areas: mental health, public health, and human services. The committee may also consider legislation relating to hospitals and other health or welfare institutions.
The Business and Utilities Committee considers bills relating to utilities, communications, and legislation impacting trade. The committee will also review the rules and regulations for all licensed professions, businesses, and organizations.
The House Calendar and Rules Committee is tasked with hearing bills on final consideration prior to presentation on the House floor for the full body. The committee also schedules bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments to be heard on the House floor.
Timothy Hill is serving his first term in the Tennessee House of Representatives. He lives in Blountville and represents all of Johnson County along with portions of Sullivan and Carter Counties.
