Two arrested for burglary; ongoing investigation

On Christmas Eve Investigators from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office were called to Blue Ridge Towing in Laurel in reference to a breaking and entering. Upon arrival they discovered that someone had entered the business and stolen a large amount of tools. Sheriff Mike Reece says the value of the items is in the thousands of dollars. Investigation into the incident led to the arrest of two people. Kevin Mark Buchanan was charged with burglary, theft of property over $10,000, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and a Capias charging him with failure to appear in Carter County Court. Investigators also charged Jacob Ray Rash with burglary, theft of property over $10,000, possession of stolen property, and false information to a police officer.

Sheriff Reece tells us that his investigators are currently assisting Mountain City Police Department in an Investigation into at least one other burglary. This investigation is ongoing.
