The Tomahawk is distributed throughout upper East Tennessee, Western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. We print 5,700 copies weekly on Wednesdays.

Subscription Rates

1 year subscription (in Johnson County) $29.00

1 year subscription (outside Johnson County) $39.00

(Subtract $4 for senior citizens for one year subscription)

Display Rates

Open Rate: $6.50 per column inch

Contract Rate: $6.15 per column inch

National Rate: $9.40 per column inch

Color Fee

Black with one color: $100

Black with two colors: $200

Black with three colors or process color: $250

Placement Fee: 25% cost of ad, when space available

16 page tabloid or 8 page broadsheet $310.00

20 page tabloid or 10 page broadsheet $345.00

Reservations for pre-printed advertising inserts must be made with our advertising department at least five days in advance and delivery arranged to the loading dock of the Elizabethton Newspaper, Inc., 300 Sycamore Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 no later than three days in advance.

Receiving hours are Monday and Friday 8 AM to 5 PM; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8 AM to 7 PM. Inserts must be half-fold and on skids or in boxes.

Any insert with three different folds will be charged an extra $50.

Line Ads: $7.25 for 20 words or less; 28¢ each additional word WITH THE EXCEPTION of yard sale line ads which are $6.25 for 20 words or less; 28¢ per additional word

Deadlines

Our deadline for display advertising, classified advertising and public notices is 4:30 p.m. Monday. For advertisers requiring proofs, the deadline is Friday noon. While we’ll try to assist you if you have any last minute additions, deletions, or changes, we cannot guarantee changes requested after the deadline.

Advertising Policies

• The Tomahawk reserves the right to edit or reject any advertising.
• A 25% setup fee will be charged for ads which are canceled before our published deadline. Charges for cancellation after our deadline has passed are 50% of the cost of the ad or $25, whichever is greater. No cancellation will be accepted after 12 p.m. Tuesday prior to publication on Wednesday of that same week
• While we’ll try our best, we can’t guarantee special placement for an ad. If placement is very important, though, see the Rate section for guaranteed page placement fees.
• The Tomahawk should be notified of any errors in an advertisement before the next edition deadline. If the mistake is ours, we will publish a correction equivalent to the size of the error. Advance payment made for advertising which is inadvertently left out will be refunded. The newspaper’s liability is limited to the refund of unused advertising dollars.
• Requests for tearsheets should be made at the time the ad is placed. Requests received more than 30 days after publication will be honored with affidavits of publication in lieu of tearsheets.

Payment Policies

• Prepayment is required on political ads, personal ads, classified ads and going out of business advertising.
• New accounts must be paid in advance until credit is established.
• Payment is due 10 days following the invoice billing date. Credit will not be extended to accounts more than 60 days overdue. In the event an account must be turned over to an attorney or collection agency, the advertiser agrees to pay all collection costs, including reasonable attorney fees and court costs.
